"Field Trip" soon: SALSA LESSON @ LA CASONA Restaurant in HARTFORD
We are planning
to meet Thursday, xxxx about 7:30 to 8 pm at La Casona Restaurant
in Hartford for our next "Salsa Dance Field Trip ! The Beginner
lesson runs 8:30 - 9:30pm with dancing afterward. It's a good
idea to meet up by 8pm so you can park in the restaurant lot or
the one across the street (as well as street parking if there's
no snow). The lesson focuses on basic steps with right and left
turns, suzie Q's, etc. I am told that there is no cost for the
lesson and you can buy food and drinks if you are so inclined.
DIRECTIONS: La Casona is at
681 Wethersfield Ave. in Hartford. You can head south on Main
St. about 1mi. from downtown Hartford; then follow the Wethersfield
Ave. split about 1.5 mi. to the intersection with Brown St. where
#681 should be. Or From Rt 91 take exit 28 west on Airport Rd.
(Rt.530) about a half mile to Wethersfield Ave. and it should
be near that corner. Or if you're coming from Rt. 84 take exit
46 east about 1.5 miles on Park Rd., turn right onto Wethersfield
for about 1.5 mi. until Brown St. crosses it. Or you can travel
on Rt. 84 to exit 40 to Rt 71 to Rt. 529 and travel east on New
Britain Ave. Where it turns to the left stay straight on White
St., jog right on Maple and left onto Brown St. and go about .5
mi to Wethersfield Ave. Contact me if you need better directions

"Field Trip" soon: WEST HARTFORD 1ST FRIDAY SWING DANCE
TIME: 7:30 - 11:30 pm
(Especially
if you are new to Swing Dancing, come and meet up with us for
the included Jitterbug lesson from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. It's a chance
to learn, loosen up and meet great people. Also a chance to get
in to the dance since sometimes the room reaches capacity before
9 pm !!)
LOCATION: 50 South Main St.,
West Hartford in the Town Hall Building. Ample free lot parking
(Special Parking this dance only on Burr St and the Board of Education
Lot on Memorial Rd.).
DIRECTIONS: FROM
ROUTE 84 (E or W):
Heading East take exit 42 and turn left onto "Park Rd."
and then at the light turn right onto "South Main St.".
If you are traveling West on Rt. 84 take exit 43 and turn left
onto "Park Rd." and then at the light turn right onto
"South Main St." Travel about 4 1/2 blocks until you
see on your right the sign "West Hartford Town Hall".
Park in that big lot and go to the front of the building on S.
Main St. to pay and get your nametag. We'll meet just inside
or outside the Hall. It's one the nicest dance floors around:
hardwood, with a/c, a stage for the live band and a balcony for
you !
COST: Since the organizers
of this dance are trying to control the crowd by limiting the
age to 21 and over OR members of Hartford Community Dance, if
you are under 21, say that you are a dance student of Jim Zaccaria.
$11/person (or $1 less if you are a Hartford Community Dance Member.
Membership in HCD is $10 from Sept. 1 - Aug. 31, $5 from Jan.
1 - Aug. 31, or $5 for students and seniors anytime.)

Word about Jim's CLASSES...
I thank all my 6000+
students for attending my classes, having fun with me while inventing
some crazy "moves", and helping us all appreciate the
joys of Swing Dancing. After dancing & teaching since 1980
in Philadelphia, I am finding venues to teach in the Connecticut
area between Hartford and Danbury or New Haven (so far, Granby,
Middletown, Old Saybrook, Waterbury, Watertown, West Hartford,
Wolcott ). If any of you know of organizations I should contact
about teaching Ballroom, Hustle, Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Retro Swing,
West Coast Swing, or putting on Swing Dance Parties, please let
me know ! I can't wait to meet all you aspiring and avid dancers
in these new "stomping" grounds !!
If
you need to miss the first class, that's ok, you can still take the class
series but YOU MUST REGISTER with the sponsoring organization
BEFORE attending at the second class. (I do a quick review EACH class and we cover
the least amount material in the first class. You can easily catch
up if you register by and attend starting the second class !)
